SEPHORA Collection - Ultimate Travel Tool Brush Set Review

SEPHORA Collection - Ultimate Travel Tool Brush Set

I found this set on sale a couple of weeks ago, and got it right before it sold out!
The good news are that now it is back in stock. This set recently got dropped down to $39 from its $80 original price. If after reading this post you are interested, you can find it here. And in addition to this, if you go to Wrapp.com and sign up, you can have a friend or family member send you a free $5 Sephora gift card through this page (they have to sign up too). If you do this you can get the set for $34! (Scroll to the bottom for even more savings)

Now let's get down to business. We all know that using the right brushes when you do your makeup makes a big difference on the outcome.
These brushes are advertised as a travel set, but the truth is this is a full-sized kit.
The only "travel" thing about it that I can see, is the fact that they can be stored neatly in their case without flying around your suitcase.

This set contains:
- Powder brush (natural)
- Foundation brush (synthetic)
- Concealer brush(synthetic)
- Eye shadow brush (natural)
- Crease brush (natural)
- Smudge brush (natural)
- Angled liner brush (synthetic)
- Brow brush/lash comb (synthetic)
- Graphite carrying case

The case itself seems very sturdy and not cheaply made, in my opinion. The closure is a side strap with a magnet, so to open and close it all you have to do is pull the magnet away from the case / place the magnetic strap back (no hassle, very quick).

The brushes fit very snug in the pockets, but not so tight that you have to fight it. In my opinion, just snug enough to stay in place without moving, without being ridiculously tight.

The great thing about this case is also that you can put any brushes you already had in it, customizing your brush set when you travel however you want, not having to be stuck only carrying these specific brushes.
The brushes themselves I have found to be good quality and very soft, except for one brush: The foundation brush (Second one from the left). This may be just because I am used to my existing foundation brush which is from MAC and is very superior in quality. The rest of the brushes seemed great for every day use.

The eyeshadow brush picked a good amount of eyeshadow for quick application.
This is how much MATTE eyeshadow it picked up from two quick passes against the eyeshadow:

And this is how much SHIMMERY eyeshadow it picked up from also two quick passes on the eyeshadow pan:

I felt a slightly quicker application with the matte shadow, but that could just be the shadow itself. The highlights in this set (the brushes I was most impressed by) were the face Powder brush (First from the left) and the Angled Liner brush (Second from the right). The powder brush seemed very dense and soft, and the angled liner brush was the best I have come across for now. It was sturdy while soft, and enabled me to create both super sharp lines, and thicker more smudgy lines.
The photo below shows a quick, sharp stroke made with this brush and gel eyeliner from MAC, and below it you can see a more smudgy, thicker line made with the same brush:

Overall, this is a great kit of brushes for the price, especially if you use the Wrapp.com $5 off code. It is great for someone who does not have a set of brushes at all, or even someone who just wants to add more brushes to their kit and also wants a nice case to carry them in. It's not perfect, but I give it 4 stars out of 5 when you consider quality/quantity/variety/price.
In addition to this I hear Sephora.com will have an extra 20% off sale items beginning tomorrow 12/21, when you use the code EXTRA at the checkout. If this applies to this kit,  and you use the gift code too, you could score it for as low as $26.20!

Too Faced - "Suddenly Sexy" Set Review

Too Faced - "Suddenly Sexy" Face Kit

I recently got a great deal on this at Sephora, paying much less than the $25 price tag.
You guys know I love savings, and if I'm going to spoil myself with cosmetics, I also need to feel good about the value I got.
This palette is advertised as a "to go palette", and it is in fact palm-sized.
The good thing about this is that you can always bring it with you anywhere, because it is so highly portable.
The palette itself comes with a pretty pink bag, a mini eye shadow primer, and a black glossy eyeliner pencil. I haven't tried the pencil yet but the Too Faced Shadow Insurance eyeshadow primer that comes with this kit, is the one that has worked the best for my eyelids particularly, out of every other brand I have tried.

The entire kit contents are:
- 8 x 0.02 oz Glamour To Go Eye Shadows
- 4 x 0.01 oz Glamour To Go Lip Glosses
- 0.11 oz Glamour To Go Blush
- 0.17 oz Shadow Insurance primer
- 0.04 oz Lava Gloss Eyeliner in Black
- Makeup bag

Overall, after testing and swatching everything, I think this kit is perfect for anyone that tends to be in a hurry and needs to retouch their face or make themselves look good at some point after leaving the house. If you throw everything from the kit inside the pink bag, and a couple of small brushes, you can just leave it in your purse, and any time you unexpectedly need to look better (say your husband decides to pick you up after work and go to dinner), or to just freshen up in the middle of the day, this kit takes little space in your purse, and you don't have to worry about bringing random eyeliner or eyeshadow in your handbag any more! As far as I know this is only available at Sephora for now.
